I bought a xp 2000+ OEM from computer brain. this was before i read resellerratings.com. some of the people said something about computerbrain pulling a stunt like OEM version is out of stock, tray version will cost more... Anyways, they tried that with me, but i said no, but they refuse to tell me when it will ship. should i just cancel and go with another company? this sorta sucks because ive got all my parts here already except for the processor.

Sounds like they don't want your business.. I personally would go somewhere else..Just my 2 cents :t

ditch em, plenty of places sell the Athlon XP 2000+. Remember, they depend on you, the customer. Don't give them your business, and maybe they will learn.

Any company that can't give a despatch date, does not know when the stock is coming in. That's bad. If nothing else, any competent outfit will tell you that you need to wait one/two/three/weeks etc before they accept your order. That gives you the choice to try and find the item in stock elsewhere.

Trust your instincts on this one.

If they are anything like alot of shifty hardware sellers, when you call on monday they'll tell you something like the order from the manufacturer just arrived or is arriving that day and as soon as it's un-packed your order is on the waiting list to be shipped 1st.
Telling you that they have one item for a certain price and taking your money for the order and then telling you they are ouot of that item but can ship you a different item for more is called bait and switch. It's fraud. If you paid by credit card, call the credit card co. and tell them exactly that and they will reverse the charges post haste. then go to newegg.com or tcwo.com and place your order there. Then check the BBB and see if they have a record there and if they do file a complaint as well.

Unfortunately alot of businesses practice the "get the customers money first routine". It's sort of like the garage that disables your car so that you figure 'well they have it apart allready" while they tell you they are waiting for parts.
