after reading the thread about saphire, people mentioned the original 8500 le is supposed to be clocked at 250/250. i purchased the original built by ati 8500le card from futureshop, boxed and all, and its clocked at 229.50/229.50
check the below screenshot. it's not like its slow or anything, i got 6981 3dmarks with a p3 1ghz and 384mb pc133 sdram. it compared nicely with other 8500le systems, so there are no worried about performance, but why is my cllock different?

please see the attached scrteenshot.

it's most likely a software bug

last i hear it was suppose to be 275/275

No, No. Its supposed to be a min. of 250/250 BBA. 275/275 is retail 8500 (non LE). LOL Anyhow some are higher though. Like my Radeon 8500LE BBA is 250/275! Anyhow got the #'s on the card. I'll check with ati on it and see what it really is for ya.;) If no #'s then its 3rd party not BBA.:t

I have an original 8500 retail for sale.

It was a great card with NO issues ever. Clocked 275/275mhz

Replaced it with the 9700pro.

I paid 155.00 for it 6-7 months ago.

I guess you haven't heard. All the newer retail 8500LEs are clocked at 230/230 now. ATI has changed the default clock/memory setting. Most, but not all, of the OEMs and 3rd party manufacturers are following suit. They're positioning the 8500LE at the low end market now.

of course

cuz they now want people to buy 9000 and 9700 instead

so it's just obvious they are doing that for the older cards :t
