A friend of mine recently got a brand new laptop with win XP. He wants to know how to disable the "Recent Documents" thing. So what does he need to do?

Can be done with Windows XP PowerToys/TweakUI.

try this...

click start->run->gpedit.msc->user configuration->administrative templates->start menu and taskbar->right click 'do not keep history of recently opened documents->properties->disabled

there you go...you will se that there's a lot more configurations there that might interest you...
