hi, my laptop dvd doesnt work and i have no OS installed....bought a bad ebay auction and got tricked. anyway i can attach an external pcmcia cd rom and the bios will detect it? i wish i had a compaq to test this out on but i dont. anyone? tia.

It should work but you will have to load the DOS drivers.
There should have been a Disk with the correct drivers with the pcmcia cd-rom.
Are you SURE that the DVD drive doesn't work?
You need drivers for it too!

it's not a pcmcia DVD it's the internal DVD Rom that came with it.
