Hi guys. I have a little problem with my motherboard and my DRAM. I bought two DIMM 128Mb 133Mhz and I applied them in my pentium III 800Mhz with Windows XP installed but my computer read just an half of them, 128 of 256 Mb :( . Why? Could you help me, Please?

Thanks

question, questions.
have you tried swapping them around?
have you tried both in "singular" to rule out a faulty stick?
were you previously using both sockets?
what model MoBo do you have?

We go through this once/week. If you are using high density RAM in an older motherboard, only half will be seen in some cases. If all of the memory chips are one one side of the stick, it's probably the wrong RAM. Best to use Crucial's or Kingston's selection process to buy.

Were "both" slots 1 and 2 being occupied with other Ram,... prior to your recent purchase of your new two DIMMS 128 Mb sticks?

Below is your specs,...according to the venor, as well as a link to JetWay motherboard's ....Bios Downloads,.... Driver Downloads,... and Manual Downloads.

Make sure you have purchased the proper Ram (shown below) to ensure compatibility with your mombo.

I applied the appropriate DRAMs. Now there are 2 SIM of 128Mb in first slots and 1 of 64Mb in the last both 3 of 133Mhz. I updated my bios but it always reads 192Mb.
First I updated the bios I tried to install just one SIM of 128Mb but my computer read it as one of 64Mb.
Someone said me that it could be a problem with HD partition, in fact I use Windows XP in FAT 32 sys not in a NTSP.
I don't know what can I do!!

Thanks for helps

If you need a more accurate response to that which BipolarBill supplied, you will need to post your system specs, you have not currently told us enough about your system. Have you even read Bill's reply? this is not something that can be easily brushed aside, you need to respond and make it clear what type of RAM you have tried to install. if you have installed the wrong type of RAM you will need to change it, or the problem will remain. I am assuming that your system is either a PII, PIII, or Celeron. That puts you on the border of the "Older Motherboards" Bill was refering to. What is the Date of the BIOS flash that you have applied and how Old is your MoBo? What is the model number of the RAM you are having trouble with? is the RAM double-sided or not? Detailed answers please!

Test each RAM stick alone first to be sure each is recognized. Obviously, one of the 128MB sticks is questionable, so check those individually and then together in different slots. We know that the 64MB stick works.

Also be certain that they are all ECC or non-ECC. You can't mix types.
