Hi Guys,

I've had a problem with XP Pro SP1 rebooting when I try changing the setting of the NIC in device mgr. such as disabling flow control or changing NIC speed (media type). The comp. will reboot and when I go into device mgr. the setting is still the same. The same issue has happened with two different NICs. Anyone else have this prob? Do you have to go into safe mode to change the settings and then reboot normally for this to work?

Thx. :t

Control Panel > System > Advanced > Startup and Recovery.

Untick "Automatically restart" and set memory dump to None.

Hopefully, you'll get a blue-screen error with a message next time.

Update your BIOS too.

Well, I fixed it. I went into safe mode to change the NIC settings and it applied the settings. I then rebooted normally and the settings "took". Something good to know for next time. :t
