I've got an ABIT KT7A-RAID, 1ghz Athlon, blah, blah, blah. In the VIA Hardware Moniter it gives the basic info..cpu temp, sys temp, cpu & system hysteresis.
Now I believe that I have a good idea of what hysteresis is and that if it's high, it's bad.
Now what if it's LOW? Is it just as bad as too high? I would really hate to frag my new processor? $$$

Hysteresis temperature (as Abit defines it) is simply a low temperature limit below which the hardware monitor will alarm. The main reason for having that setting is to make sure the temperature probes are actually functioning and giving a realistic reading. I had mine set at 65F and occasionally got an alarm when I first booted up on a cold winter day.

Overall, it means nothing as far as your system is concerned. Its not likely you will damage your system from operating at too low a temperature!!

Thanks ragtop. I was hoping you'd say that. It never hurts to get a second opinion when you're not sure of something.
