Damnit.. ok, so one of my users has some how turned on the content advisor in IE and doesn't know the password that they used to turn it on. Now they can't get to ANY web sites. Not even our companies local Intranet.

Does anyone know how to get around this? I've checked the MS site and it says "if you don't know they supervisors password then contact MS support services" or something like that.

I wont be able to do that because I'm not going to pay for it, and I'd rather not rebuild the clients machine.

They're running IE 5.5 on NT 4.0 SP6.

if it's a clients machine you should let them know that if they can't remember the password you will have to rebuild and charge them triple time (next time they'll either remember the password or write it down), if it's a network machine, you should rebuild and enable content advisor on all the desktops and set the passwords yourself, that way nobody else can mess with it. :(

Open Regedit and delete this key: H_KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Cur rentVersion\Policies\Ratings]

There is a utility available to remove Content Advisor Password

check it out

here (http://nirsoft.multiservers.com/utils/conadvpass.html)

it actually automates what midknyte's link has to say.

After deleting the key:
Restart the computer and run Internet Explorer again. Choose View and then Internet Options.

Click on the Content tab and click on Disable. When asked for a password, don't enter anything; just click on OK. This will disable Content Advisor because there's no longer a password. (Keeps little tykes..or curious grownups...from playing around with it.)
