I have just updated my system with the above mobo, xp2100+, 512k pc133, ATI Radeon 7000 and Hercules Fortissimo 2 sound card. I have disabled the onboard sound chip in bios but am having problems with the fortissimo which was o/k in my old Celeron 900 system. Playing system sounds from the sound/audio properties or playing CD's the sound is o/k for a while but then produces a strange buzzing noise with the original sound faintly audible in the background. Anyone had any experience of this or any ideas? Thanks in anticipation.

That's actially a conflict with the on board sound.
i betcha it you remove the fortisimo and use the on board sound you don't get that problem
that's what sucks about on board everything mobos
you can try and use Win in Standard PC config, then manually give it another IRQ number to use that usually does the trick
:t
Thanks for that AllGamer. Working fine at present, fingers crossed.

Nah. If you turned it off, it IS off and gone. Or do you still see an SiS 7012 sound engine in device manager? No? Good. Ain't no "conflict" possible then.
If the sound is still playing, then you don't have a problem on the system bus side anyway. I'm willing to bet you got an analog circuitry problem on that sound card - like a poorly fitting plug, a defective outlet, or just a broken solder joint.
