I got a 1150(3dmark2001) on my new system I built heres the specs.
AMD athlon xp1800
256ddr333 mem
wd 80 gig7200 rpm
geforce2mx 400 64mb
I know my graphics card is holding me down but I shouldnt be that much. Using latest drivers, maybe I should mess with the bios settings.

Actually that looks prenty already
is only a GF2 and is a MX edition
so even if you reach 2000 is already exagerating
:t
P4 2.4
512 ram
GF-4 MX
it only does roughly 4000
vs the same setup with a Radeon 8500 or GF-4 Ti which yield way over 8000

Update your gfx card drivers and look for some bios tweak guides at places like www.tweak3d.net but with that card you really aint gonna be hitting too high, although i think that score is too low really.

I seen higher with pretty much the same hardware and I'm using the newest driver off of nvidia's website,
i just checked the benchmarks scores on benchmark section of the site and I should be between
2500 and 3000. I'm going to install xp pro later maybe that will help.

Shouldnt make that big a difference - if anything win 9x should be faster.
Have you set all the gfx card settings to default when benching?
--Jakk:t
Yup and I'm going to try one of the detonator drivers.

Get the newest version from www.nvidia.com

My brother's P3 750 with 256mb pc100 and geforce2 mx200 32mb gets a score of 1439 on Win98se, so something is definitely wrong.

Back when I was using my gf2 mx400 and tbird 900 I got around 2600 3dmarks. I'd expect over 3000 from that setup.
Check your 4 in 1s, vid drivers, general windows config, and whatever else you can think of.
its at 1441 now the gpu and mem. speeds were 175 and 125 and I checked on the net and put it on 200 and 150 high as it would go stable. I think its the bios.
I ran sisoft sandra and it said the video card's bios was outdated.? I'll try to get the mem clock speed up.
Clock speeds cant go higher. Where can I get a bios update for it. I just got the new 4 in 1 drivers and I'm running the test now.

Where can I get a bios update for it.
BIOS updates genberally will make themachine no faster, its not worth updating the bios unles syour having serious techincal issues you know will be fixed by the bios falsh.

ok, I changed some of the bios settings and it didint help.
should I uninstall directx9 and put in directx8

My geforce 2 mx 400 had a default memory speed of 160. Maybe your card is just slow. :(
I dont think 10 mhz would make it that slow to score a 1411.
when I turn my computer on it says the graphics card name and stuff like that and underneath that it says v3.1
I'm going to uninstall and install the drivers.
Same with 3dmark, I got the detanator driver to work and I have the clock speeds at,gpu:210,mem:160.

WTF??? Peek, you did the same thing I did! You posted separate replies instead of compacting them! Cool!

Kick me if I'm wrong, but my MX200 has a mem speed of 166. The def. mem speed for an mx 400 is 200.

I really am beginning to wonder what's wrong with tojo... he's really not like this in real life.....:(
I'm using rivatuner to overclock it and 160 is in the blue area I'll try to take it up higher.
I cant take it any higher without it being unstable.
At another thread I made I was told that trying the 23.11 drivers might make it work right.I uninstalled my new drivers and installed the 23.11 and the computers boots up to the windows xp is loading screen and then the monitor goes on standby. I can open programs although I cant see it.

Ask this in the video cards section. :t
I did, but I got it working.
Tomorrow I'm going to delete the whole hard drive and start over. Cause I want to start fresh and I it wasnt using the 23.11 driver I installed on there.

I remember i borrow a Geforce 2 Mx400 from a friend and i benchmark it and got like CHECK IT HERE (http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=3798458)
I got the 23.11 drivers working and the gpu is at 220 and mem at 160 and its now 1642. Can the memory on a graphics card be holding me back that far, its probaly 5-6ns.

Its not the memory on the card, its a bombination of the memory being SDR and the chipset being absoloutley turd :(
You could overclock the memory to infinity but as the chip is so crippled you prolyl wouldnt see much of a performance boost :(
--Jakk:t
I'll just forget about it working cuz I can play all the games I want. I'm going to start saving for Radeon 9500 pro. I just finished making a duct.
