Sorry am new to CD burning. I need good LINKS to start with. Uses a new MSI cd writer bundled with Nero 5. I have to understand those NERO settings in there in laymans language. Do I have to format every new CD-Rw using InCD? Can I multisession all kinds of CD-r including generics? Can I copy protected CDs as backup? And a lot of other beginner's questions.

I'm not aware of any sites per say that answer those particular questions, well...not all of them. But the best thing for you might be to browse through Nero's Help file which I have found to be fairly comprehensive and all-knowing. :D

As a matter of fact, most people I know have stopped using INCd and other drag and drop type software...I have that too, but do not use it, you only need to format a CD RW when you are gonna drag and drop files or folders onto the CD burners drive letter...like we sometimes do with a floppy disk or zip drive. Thanks for the links. Sooo... I'll just have to write DAO always? I have to read the whole Nero help, though I'm unknown to terms such as ISO Level 1, ISO Level 2, Mode 1, Mode 2/xa, Iso 9660, Joliet... whew, that's a lots of mysteries. But I keep on learning to burn whatever they maybe... he he praying to write correctly by accident (joke only). Even if its a CDrw, do I have to click Finishing?

JonathanB, I have always been a shutterbug...everywhere I went, I had a camera...usually an instamatic or some other cheap type. One day, I was in a pawn shop and the guy had a SLR on sale..a sort of off brand, but Japanese, which had good lens...I decided to buy it. Great, now I had a decent camera, and no clue how to use it. I bought several rolls of the cheapest, black and white film I could get and burned film..taking notes of settings...settings...settings. When the pics were developed, I reviewed the pics against my notes...I could now use the camera with comfort.
I suggest you buy some cheap, bulk CD-Rs and just burn, baby...burn...you'll get the hang of it. I don't even know the answers to some of your questions, like ISO Level 1, ISO Level 2, Mode 1, Mode 2/xa, Iso 9660, Joliet ect... I just use the defaults in Nero...most times those are the ones we need for average burning. Multi-session is something I have not gotten into yet...so, when I get ready...I will get some cheapie CD-Rs and learn how..or, do it on CD-RWs, erase them and go again...whatever. Until you have tried some of this for yourself, nobody is gonna be able to just tell you what to do, you wouldn't understand them anyway..unless someone takes you by the hand and teaches you step 1, step 2, step 3...ect ect...

You may find some answers here. I found the site, but did not read it.

Type in an acronym and see what comes up.
You may want to get a copy of CloneCD to burn a copy of your protected CDs
http://www.elby.de/CloneCD/english/index.htm
(The site seems to be down right now, check to see if your burner will be recognised by CloneCD first. I use it as well as Nero.)
