Did you run into any problems? Did you O/C? Hope all went well!

I haven't jumped over to AMD yet. People say, "Buy a M/B now and add the Palomino later. They both have the same socket.".
If I wait until the Palomino release, do you agree with me that there will be newer and better boards and chipsets?

Just wanted to chat. Have a good Holiday ! <IMG SRC="http://a1060.g.akamai.net/f/1060/597/30minutes/www.zing.com/picture/pfb75b5c7df54a805c3799cfe6034a42a/fea43f4c.gif" border=0>

Running just peachy, Pack'n, thanks for asking http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

I tried a slight OC @9.5x to see if the chip was factory unlocked (it is) http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif but for now I'm just running it @9x default.

I haven't done any research into Palomino or beyond.. probably best to get opinions re that in the OC/CPU or Motherboard forum.

Here was my first thread right after I got the combo and built the box:

http://www.sysopt.com/forum/Forum1/HTML/011983.html

And a subsequent thread with benches, some problems I had, and some tweaks.

http://www.sysopt.com/forum/Forum3/HTML/010617.html

My hdd's still aren't benching up to ATA-100 spec, even with the Standard W2K PCI IDE controllers and MS Hotfix. I'll focus on that problem at some point, but have no time for it now.

Other than the usual self-induced problems &lt;g&gt;, he's running just great and I'm quite happy with this machine.

CPU temp averages between 39*-46*C depending on what I'm doing.

You have a great Holiday as well http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

(p.s. - no sigs allowed, Pack'n, sorry.)

Socalgal:

Just letting you know my Iwill KK266 with the 1.2 GHz T-Bird is flying. We built our new systems at about the same time: you went Abit -- I went Iwill. My temps are about what yours are, and I presently have NO desire to oc! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif

I'm glad you're pleased with your system.

Brangwen, congrats! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif I'm really glad to hear you're happy with your KK266, and 1.2G TBird, too.

If I remember, the only reason I didn't go with that board was the onboard audio. But it was close, as the KT7A and KK266 have most the same features and slot setup http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

I also feel no overwhelming compulsion to OC either - yet! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

It becomes a compulsion after the first try and you see your favourite progs running smoother and faster. You then naturally become a case modder. Its all Individual stuff to.

OC'r turbo. have fun http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
