lets say a person gets an xp2000. should he get an oem version and buy a separate fan and heatsink, or should she get the retail because there is no real difference?

If get another fan, which one is the best for xp2000-2400?

Stock heatsinks and fans are fine as long you are not attempting to overclock. Soon as you do, temperatures begin to go up.

Some might say that buying a more "powerful" fan and specially designed heatsink, will lower the temps far enough to prolong processor life and perhaps smooth out the odd crash here and there. i would say that if you run the processor and your temps are under fifty deg centigrade normal running and under 55 playing games you should be fine.

It does no harm to add better fans to your system, or even more fans or ram sinks. Generally the cooler the better and AMD do run hotter than most. If you got the budget, go for it.

If you are not going to clock your system... and will have adequate case cooling, the retail cpu and fan should do you very well. Most people buy OEM so that they can buy the HSF of their choice...especially if they will overclock the system.
