  Ok! about 3 weeks ago my machine was running like a dream. Satifactory across the board. Then I got the blue screen of death on XP with "bsudf.sys" I resolved that issue and removed DirectCD and INCD. Since the day I fixed the machine anything that requires what I think to be DirectDraw (ie: winamp visuals, full screen games, and windowed video/DVD) causes lag. Overall computer performance has degraded. My computer specs are :
AMD 1600 XP
256 DDR RAM
Gforce 4 MX440 64mb
SBlive 5.1
2x 20gig drives, (Maxtor, Seagate)
Win XP Pro
All latest Updates and Drivers for all hardware I believe.

This frame lag or CPU lag doesn't allow me to play any games or watch videos, WTF has happened. I took the liberty of creating another Profile for gaming and removed most of the common processes of xp and nothing changed. In the "task manager" under performance the cpu usage peaks every second at 40% it used to be 20-22%.
PLEASE HELP ME
I miss my games!!!
Thnx!

Did you go into the display settings-->troubleshoot-->and lower "hardware acceleration"? Look there.

Also, try running DXDIAG from the Run line. You might need to enable Direct Draw, Direct 3d, or your AGP acceleration.

Actually a MX will lag regardless

i have them i know they do :t

and it's a P4 2.4 with 512 meg or ram

so if it lags here

it'll definitely lag on that lower one :p

I guess I'd have to have something cleared up then: was it running fine a few weeks ago then it got *skrewd* up?

ed: *goes back and reads original post*

It was.

Try the above, if that doesn't help, reinstall your OS over your existing OS. You'll have to go through the Windows Update again, but you'll at least keep your data intact (back everything up anyway, it's good practice).

I will try the DXDiag. And the hardware accel bidness and get back to you. I havn't been using the machine much and i also posted another thread in tech support about Processor Blips, got help and improvement but its still not to what it was. Smooth and crisp. Thanks for you continued help.

I had the same problem.

Processor was blipping to 40% cpu about every 1.5 seconds. Games were unplayable.

I could see it was a kernel process, so uninstalled my network card and sounds card and restarted windows.

Problem Solved.

I assume you've fixed your problem now, but thought this might help other people with the same prob.
