I have a few carcases laying around with ATX frames. I would like to convert one to a file/print/proxy server for a home network using NT4 server. I have a 100Mb ethernet service in the house. What hardware would suffice for a secure backup file storage and provide adequate file access speed for streaming media? If on the wrong board, point me in the right direction. Thanks.

Considered using a Linux variation?

I tried that a couple of years ago. I had the telnet working, was learning about IP addresses, setting up user acccounts, security, wanted to share my FAT files and crashed it trying to compile a custom kernel w/Samba Server still in infancy. Not much spare time to experiment. Someday I will return to conquer LINUX, but it won't happen on Spring break or Christmas vacation and that's the reality of it all.
