my question is this.
is there a reason to install service pack 1,2,3 etc., if you dont have a problem??
is it the ol' "if it aint broke dont fix it" attitude??? i have 2K on a fresh install with no problems(knock wood). MY guess is to leave well enough alone. but thats not good enough for me obviously. id appreciate some feedback on this matter if you care to offer your 2 cents....
just wanted a few opinions....thanx

Well, here's MS's spin:

Service Pack 1 (SP1) provides the latest updates to the Windows 2000 Family of Operating Systems.

These updates are a collection of fixes in the following areas: operating system reliability, application compatibility, setup, and security issues. This service pack includes fully regression-tested versions of the patches for all security vulnerabilities that had been discovered in Windows 2000 up to the closing date of Service Pack development.

The security issues that are addessed by SP1 are described in the following Microsoft Security Bulletins.

I personally suggest the use of the service packs as they do address the issues of Security problems and OS and even Hardware issues that have come to light.
