Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : Is Asus good?
My experience from buying Asus products have been good. When I called Asus technical support the first time, the engineer helped me. Then I called back later, the technical support staff was busy. I left my name and phone number. The following day, I received a phone call from Asus's technical support. Wow! They make their costumer feel respected. They acknowlege you as human beings. Another instance, my refurbish mobo didn't come with an "audio communication riser card." I called Asus Costumer support, and they said we'll send you one for free in about a week. Wow! This shows they really care about their costumers.
The items I bought from Asus are V7700 Geforce2 GTS Pure, V8420 Geforce4 Ti 4200, and A7N266-C nForce 415-D mobo. All excellent products from Asus, and I would highly recommend them for the following reasons I mention above.
What are your thoughts and experience about Asus?

I've never had any problems with them, in fact they are the only ones I buy when I need a motherboard.

Great products! It's a good thing, because their support stinks. :(

Asus makes good quality products. My first 2 full computer builds used Asus motherboards, and my first full build used a Asus video card (v3400TNT). As Bill said, their support stinks.

I love asus mobo's. Pay a little more but they are usually worth the extra $. Yes, their tech support sucks none the less. its more or less non-existent by email. But from the sounds of it a phone call works. Gonna have to try that method next time!:)

Asus is one of the top tier MB makers. I've had very few problems with their boards.
As for tech support, who has really great support? I don't think you'll do much better with anyone else, except maybe Intel. However, you really can't do jack on an Intel board.
Asus makes good products.. that's all I know.
But I am also an ABit guy. :x

Personally, Asus motherboards for the Intel platform are worth buying. AMD platform, they're only just average. No big hoo hah over Asus AMD boards.

Please tell me you are kidding Comage!!!!!!!!
Asus is one of the best Motherboard makers out there PERIOD!!
Be it for the Intel or AMD platforms.!
Show me one test or benchmark where Asus has been average.!
YOU WILL NOT FIND ANY.! And this is coming from a guy who is biased via Gigabyte!! ;)
Check motherboard round-ups and reviews :

Yes, in benchmarks, they all appear above average. But the fact is, Asus AMD motherboards have a lower QC compared to the Intel boards. There's quite a number of faults with their AMD boards, right off the shelves in stores.

Yeah, I partially agree with that. Not like I'm anti-Asus or something, I've build a few systems, Intel and AMD platform inclusive, using Asus boards. My personal desktop is also an Asus board (AMD platform). :)

Regarding the benchmarks, frankly ASUS 'cheats' a bit by slightly OC'ing by default. Check it out, your processor will show up as running a little bit faster than spec on the default setting (e.g. my 866MHz PIII runs at 871 on my ASUS board). Generally ASUS makes a quality product, although they do have their misses as well. As examples of the latter, witness the A7S333 and P4S8X. Generally ASUS does appear to do a better job with Intel chipsets. So good in fact that I hear that ASUS will be making boards for Intel.

Yes, but thats negligable. I mean ohhhh 101fsb vs 100. Big dif. Thats what my mobo runs at. Asus P4t-e 101fsb not 100. At 133 its really 134. BUT it isnt gonna make it win by much nor make a bad mobo score good either. Though it does slightly hold a tiny advantage its not really anything. Plus if it were higher, well then it wouldnt be Intel and AMD aproved either.

Actually a lot of mobo makers do that, I've seen both EPoX and DFI do it myself. Sometimes you can request a new BIOS that does not factory OC. And the Factory OCing thing is not constant, as with the 8-KHA+ speeds above 145 FSB actually stick to what they are in the BIOS  :x
As for ASUS, I'd say I have mixed feelings, their intel boards are rock solid (very A+ experience with the P3B-F) but don't go for a SiS- or Ali-based one. BIG disaster time!
And yes, their techsup sucks, 1month to respond to an email with info I knew already
But then so do a lot of corps these days as Midknyte said.

I've also heard that Asus boards for AMD chips have issues.... I hope they get straightened out when it comes time for me to invest, especially considering their prices. I'm considering the A7N8X Deluxe, among others.
Vapor, how do you request the new BIOS? Do you ask the vendor/retailer or go straight to Asus?
Good tech support is a rare find these days anywhere

I have used an ASUS P3V4x daily for two years now and it's still fine; although I expect a slightly lower quality controlled boards coming to us here.

the only bad thing about them is their Technical Support Staff....they rarely reply to your emails.
