Can anyone reccomend a decent/cheap pci modem? Getting the Asus A7M266 Mobo and it doesn't have any ISA slots, has one of those modem riser slots though. Any info on that would be appreciated too.

Go with the Lucent DSP. You can find them on Ebay for under 20 bucks

Ditto on the Lucent PCI winmodem. It is probably the best, or one of the best winmodems available...

Check here for advice and/or problems:

Thanks for the info. One more question. Checked out pricewatch for some modems found a whole list of Lucent PCI modems. Some for as low as 9 bucks and some for around 20. My question is how do I know if it's a DSP modem? Are all the lucent PCI's DSP? Couldn't find a model number on the websites they all say Lucent chipset 56K v.90 modem. Is that the baby I'm looking for?

Alondra, I have one I picked up at a computer show for 14 bucks, I figured if I didn't work I'd toss it, well it went in and performs better than any I have ever owned which were far more than 14.oo
