Hey, you guys, I have an old PackardBell Legend 115, been trying for months to find the manual online and in my archive, but no luck :(

I need it to set the bios in it. Otherwise it's useless, and I kinda want to keep this thing beating since it's my second pc that I've had.

so if anyone finds an online manual or has a manual from theirs that they don't need please let me know :D

Thanks In Advanced :)

I couldn't find anything, but Packbell got bought out by NEC, then it went to Alorica. Maybe you can contact someone from NEC or Alorica. Sorry, dude. :(

Strange, but true!

What's even scarier is that there were a good many more. There was one Packard Bell forum with extensive Packard Bell information, which has since gone away.

Usually restored in one hour. That's the problem with free web space, and Yahoo! Geocities. I used to have a web page on Geocities before Yahoo acquired it. I let it fade away...

Try this:
http://support.packardbell-europe.com/scripts/rdr.asp?page=/support/download/man/CAT701.asp&menu=MySupport&cat=manuals&lang=1&

There are some older manuals there, but I'm not sure which motherboard the Legend 115 has. Ray's page tells you how to identify them.

Last summer when trying to troubleshoot a really old PB, I found "Rays Packard Bell site" Not sure if it still on the web but a google search might bring it up. It hasn't been active for several years but some of the links worked for me and I was able to get a MBD diagram from some one in Belgium.

Dude! I have a Packard Bell 486 DX2-66. They called it a Pack Mate 66.

Sorry, I can't find a manual for that PB410A. Ray's site doesn't have it. :(

Ray's website hotlinked to PB's and since they don't support the americas anymore, they can't be a help to me :(

The teen center has a very dusty Legend 115 desktop on a shelf, minus a hard drive. It has a scsi connector too and a restore disk. Would the motherboards be the same?

I believe so, even when I got this legend 115 without a cd-rom drive :D

hehe, just mobo, built in ram, a pentium, no sound card, built in everything :D and a small conner 500mb hard drive

wooohoooooo, it was flyin' in that time :D

I've been running around those sites the last week or 2 as well as I've dusted of my PB 486 and have it up and going again. It was an SX2-50, but now has a DX4-100 Overdrive chip. (PB450+ board)

I'm wanting to put in a larger hard drive, and more ram, but a couple of things --

1/ As the BIOS will not recognise anything over 540MB in disk size, will a utility like Seagates Disc Wizard overcome this? I'm trying to get an updated BIOS for this system, but it is a bit tricky to find the right one that will not screw up the system.

2/ Fast Page vs EDO Ram, is there a huge amount of difference?. Virtually no one in Australia has Fast Page RAM anymore. Plenty of EDO 72 Pin available, which I believe should work. One seller I contacted said you can't do either upgrade to Packard Bells, but I know plenty of people have.

Any help or advice would help greatly, this old thing actually still runs quite well.

Regards

Ray Wise

you cab, but brother it ain't worth it :(

that's why I just want that old pb to it's original settings.

otherwise than that, it will become a project for me to have fun with. Like to how far will a pb get catapulted :D :D or how to turn it to a small cooler :D or making it into a storage bin
