Hi All,

I am wondering if an A7V Rev1.05 would support an athlon 1400? Is there a website that provides the jumper settings for all the CPUs that this board supports?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Best Regards,

;)

Do you mean "A7V133" or plain, old "A7V" by Asus?

Info re CPU supported: http://usa.asus.com/inside/techref/athlonxp.htm I have run an XP2100+ Palomino on this particular board (A7V133).

Also:
http://www.asus.com.tw/support/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx If you search for A7V, it shows that it will support up to 1400 Athlon (200mHz fsb version)

Manuals will have jumper info...
A7V133 Manual: http://www.asus.com.tw/support/download/item.aspx?ModelName=A7V133

A7V Manual: http://www.asus.com.tw/support/download/item.aspx?ModelName=A7V

Thanks for the response...

What i have is

An Asus A7V rev1.02 running an Athlon 850. There are no issues with this system and it has been rock solid for the better part of 2 years now.

I also recently acquired an Asus A7V rev1.05 and an Athlon 1400 unlocked.

What i wanted to know is what would the jumper setting be for the second scenerio? Leaving everything jumper-free is not working.... The manual i have from the original A7V (E601), does not provide the manual jumper settings up to 1400 and the new one online does not either....

I have pulled the older A7V/850 out of the case and connected the newer board/1400 up to all the periperals and nothing worked. I took the 1400 cpu and added it to the older board and i got a long beep and that was it.

I am going to look specifically at the settings on both boards this morning and try the 850 on the newer board to see what happens, however anybody with some more information would be much appreciated...

BTW, Great Forum :D

Don't remember exact jumpers settings for A7V ...
For 1400MHz model you have two options :
133MHz FSB model will have original settings of 133x10.5=1.4GHz
OR
100MHz FSB model will have original settings of 100x14=1.4GHz

A7V is based on VIA KT133 chipset, which can only support up to 100MHz FSB (200MHz DDR effective). So will default settings and FSB at 100MHz you should see 1050MHz CPU, but with unlocked multiplier you can set it up to 12.5x, if I remember correctly ...

Gecko5...
If you read the fine manual (download from the link I provided in my first post), you will see on pages 21 and 22 the dip switch settings that you need to set.

For example, make sure you set the JEN jumpers to 1-2 to enable jumpered mode.

Then, referring to page 21, and assuming we are working on your PCB rev 1.05 board, to obtain a cpu speed of 133mHz, you would set the DSW switches as follows:
5 - off
4 - off
3 - on
2 - off
1 - off

Now, on page 22, looking at the DSFID swicthes, you would then set these to a mulitplier of 10.5, as follows:
6 - on
5 - on
4 - off
3 - off
2 - off
1 - 0ff

The combination of 133mHz (CPU) X 10.5 gives you 1400mHz. Of course, if your ram cannot take 133+33mHz, then you will need to play a round a bit to see what bus speed the ram can tolerate. Alternatively, you could try less agressive ram timings (for this see pages 60 and 61). Go back to page 21 to see how to set switches for other bus speeds, then see page 22 to set switches to adjust for whatever cpu multiplier you want to employ.

You will/may need to adjust your vcore voltages... for this refer to page 23.

Good luck, and enjoy!
