What you need to get is an Athlon XP unlocking kit. Just do a search in Google and a heap of places where you can get the kit will be found. Check out http://www.highspeedpc.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=HSPC&Category_Code=OC

Most well stocked automotive supply stores will have a rear window defogger repair kit. This has a conductive liquid like the ink to repair the traces that get broken on the rear window defogger connections. This will work just fine to unlock a processor.

Is the CPU brown or green? If it's green, then it possibly might be the same stepping core as the 2100+, and not so easily unlockable. AGOIA AROIA AGOGA

My XP1800 Palomino is doing 1790MHz. It runs OK @ 1800M but sometimes gets a little flakey, so 1790 is fine. Couldn't get the chip to do 166fsb no way no how with Thermalright slk800 air heat sink.

I bought the paint at Frys, it comes in a pen type dispenser, it's made by CAIG, and it's called a "Circuit Writer" pen. Worked OK, but I had to modify the tip a bit to get enough wiz out to fill the masks properly.

Good and bad. It will OC higher, but you'll need a dremel to unlock.

Yeah you have a palomino there. You can unlock it, read the article and look at the video in the link below.

Here is how (http://www17.tomshardware.com/howto/20011112/index.html) to unlock a Palomino. At the end of the article is a link to a video that shows the procedure. I think it also shows the Tbred A....Results vary, and keep in mind there is always the real possibility you might be buying a new chip the next day if you try this. :t
