there are programs that will let you do it and the process is quite time comsuming...I no longer have the links but long story short..it takes about 12-14 hours and a good system to accomplish it.....I sent this link to someone that knows more than I so maybe he will respond to you...

I think codybear is talking about encoding a VCD. Encoding can take that much or more time to get to MPEG1 (VCD) or MPEG2 (SVCD).

Boy, CloneCD gets around. I would further agree to daveleau's suggestion. CloneCD is nice and fast. NERO's "Copy a CD" Wizard should also work, it basically does the same thing as CloneCD.

Also i think we might be forgeting some things. To burn a VCD ur burner must support that format, not all burners will, its the same as not all burners support cd-text, cd-i, cd-g, photo cd etc.... Also not all home DVD players will play cd-r's and cd-rw's, i know that my brothers doesn't, which totally sucks.
Check out the tracks which have been burnt to the cd, if my memory serves me correct there should be a 1st session with 1 CD-I track in it(i think this is what controls the menu sequence), that sessions should be closed and a 2nd session opened with a CD-XA track containing the data for the video.
Try putting it in a DVD-rom and see if it plays like a vcd there.

Thought just come to mind, i don't knwo how you are trying to copy the disc, but if your just copying the files across this will not work, all you would be copying is the 2nd session from above. Make sure you do "copy disc". Also another program u could try which is similar to clonecd is blindwrite. www.blindwrite.com (http://www.blindwrite.com)

Hi everyone,
My friend and I just purchase a VCD, unfortunately there is only one left and the producer won't publish this title anymore in the future. I have tried to use WINONCD 3.7, EASY CD CREATOR DELUXE 4.0 to make a copy of it, in vain. It seems to burn the disk alright; however, when I insert the disc in my home DVD player (the original plays perfectly) it displays as CD and not VCD. Does anyone have an idea what I am missing and what do I need in order to make a copy of a VCD?
Anyhelp is greatly appreciated.
MY SYSTEM:
DUAL PII 266, TYAN S1692DL, 128 MB PC66 SDRAM, 10GB 5400RPM WD, 9GB 7200RPM IBM DESKTAR, GENERIC NIC CARD, #9 REVOLUTION 3D, 24X MITSUMI CD-R, 4X2X16X MITSUMI CD-RW, WIN ME & WIN2K PRO.

Use one of these:
CloneCD ( www.elaborate-bytes.com (http://www.elaborate-bytes.com) )
---Makes a direct duplicate of the cd if your cd burner supports RAW writing. Very nice for copying disks of any kind.
Nero 5.0.4.4 ( www.ahead.de (http://www.ahead.de) )
---The burning software of choice for burning VCD DAT files.
Both have demos for DL.
Good luck
Dave
