Converting WMV to AVI...

Evenin,

I'm trying to put together a series of movie clips, and the Windows Movie Maker that comes with Windows XP is exactly the sort of application I'm looking for. But it only lets me save files in .wmv format, which is a bit sh*t really isn't it?

Is there any way I can get it to save as divx5, or are there any programs that will convert from wmv to divx?

Alternatively, are are there any editing packages (free or commercial) that do this that you can recommend?
