Removed the CMOS battery from my Leadtek 7350KDA board and accidentally broke the retainer clip off. Think it can be replaced? Or am I out of luck?:(

You're not SOL if you can find a way to keep it in there, against the lower contact. But make sure the metal that used to be on top is somehow replaced... hmm.. a soldering iron comes to mind ;)

maybe www.molex.com might have a replacement part for you....

Yeah, I wasn't sure if the metal clip needed to make contact back to the board. Or if it was just something to hold the battery in.

Oh well, I sent three emails to tech support. Hoping for a simple solution.

From what I can see, soldering in that area might be tricky.

Sorry If I wasn't that clear -- yes, I think the top part has to make contact with the metal arm in order to have a circuit.

A better design would have been one with the battery in a clip you can take out with a screwdriver... Abit has even gone one step further by making the battery holder have the behavior of an expansion-card slot... very convenient!

I'm going to RMA the sucker. Wouldn't you know, I'm two weeks over my warranty from Newegg!

Hope I don't have a problem with Leadtek.

No support from Leadtek!

Did manage to get the battery sorted but that brought me back to my first problem, no boot.

Guess I fried the cpu. Can bearly hear the speaker message. Sounds like "Central processor damaged or improperly installed".:(

Back to the drawing board.
