Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : What HD size is supported ?
I'd like to upgrade my HD but I can't seem to find anywhere what maximum HD size is supported by my environment:
Iwill P55XB2 mobo
Intel 430TX chipset
Award BIOS v4.51 PG
Win95 OSR2 (FAT323)
I seem to remember that before upgrading my BIOS and Win95 OSR2, I could only install 8.5Gb HD. I'm pretty sure I can get larger HD now, but I don't know how large :S

I didn't think you were limited in total size with Win95, but in partition size.
Don't take my word for it...I've been up for 22hours http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

Yes your chipset has/had the 8gig barrier. If you recently updated it you "should" be able to reach the 2 tara byte limimt imposed by windows. You might double check the site where you got the bios update.
Unfortunately I'm still running the 430TX chipset - as for the BIOS, I downloaded the latest version from my mobo's website (Iwill), but there's no mention of HD size support. I guess that unless I want to be stuck with a useless piece of hardware, I'd better stick to 8Gb http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif

On my Win95 system, the largest HD supported is 2 gigs.

FAT32's limit is theoretically in the terabyte range. For all intents and purposes, you may run into problems again at 36GB. You also may run into problems at 137GB. 137 is supposedly the limit for many IDE controllers. There is no 2GB limit for Win95, unless you use FAT. FAT32 has no such limit.
Good luck
