Thanks bassman 12-19-2002, 07:47 AM One of these, that won't be too expensive. All support DDR333 & ATA133: ASUS A7V333 MSI KT3 Ultra-ARU EPoX 8K3A+ IUf you're willing to spend some more money...go for VIA KT400 ;) BipolarBill 12-19-2002, 10:14 AM It's probably a good idea to plan for the future with this purchase. The latest AMD Athlon is the 2800+ 166MHz version. Whatever you get, be sure that it supports this CPU. LostBok 12-19-2002, 10:33 AM Not sure about CPU support, but I've got an ASUS A7V333 and it is a very nice board: running with a 1900+ & 512Mb PC2700 @333Mhz for weeks at a time without rebooting. All th eIDE is UDMA 133, 4 std devices and 4 on the RAID. The onboard Promise RAID is the "lite" version, so it's farily quick, but not quite the same as the TX2000 that I have on another machine. Not tried the onboard firewire or USB2, but thought they'd both be useful features to have :) Recently acquired the digital daughterboard for the onboard sound - SPDIF and optical... in AND out for both! I've had one minor problem with the primary master channel defaulting to PIO in win2000, but think that's a problem that only I have experienced. There's lot's of funky add-ons in terms of ASUS temperature and O/C monitoring panels plus a multi-IO card reader and such that I haven't even looked at yet. All in all a very well featured and incredibly stable board. regards, LostBok saintj 12-19-2002, 11:31 AM Thanks for the replies guys. I was wondering if the ECS K7S5A is a good board. I've heard it talked about so much, however, how much processor can it handle ? Thanks. BipolarBill 12-19-2002, 11:58 AM It can handle up to an XP 2400+. It cannot use PC2700 RAM though. For a few bucks more, get an MSI KT3 Ultra2 - it will do it all for you: http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduct.asp?DEPA=&submit=Go&description=N82E16813130354 SysOpt.com
