Hey, I nee some recommendations for a file that I can use to split and AVI file, file is 697MB, need to fit on 650MB CDR for file transfer, and i'm to lazy to go buy a 700MB CDR. I'm sure any file spliter will work, right? it doesn't really need to specifically support .avi files...anyway, just get me cookin, with a program guys. oh and, I'm looking to download it, tonight, for free, like everything is....so, you, it has to be freeware, or shareware that i can use a couple of time at least.

Tried it, I can use it, but i'm really looking for something that will keep the files in the same format. This chnages the format, then you "join" the files together after you move them. I'm wanting to put one file on one cd then the other on another, and have them both in the .avi format. that way i can just put the second cd in when the first one is done. if you'd like to know what this is for, it for divX (DVD rips) but you didn't hear that from me, they're not for me anyway...

the best program to keep frames while splitting is TMGEnc 12a (Make sure you get version A!) . You can read up on it and others at www.vcdhelp.com (http://www.vcdhelp.com)

Does it have to be AVI? Try Quicktime or MPEG w/compression to see if it can come down to 650.

You can use virtualDUB (download it from my site). It does a million things and it is very powerfull (works great with divX).
