Was just having a look at some dvd at www.play247.com (http://www.play247.com) and noticed that crouching tiger hidden dragon is said to be region 1 enhanced coding.
"R1 Enhanced - Will only play on North American Region 1 or manually switched multi-region DVD players."
is this the next step to stop people playing american DVDs in in europe and vice-versa?
Don'tlike the sound of that?

Yes, the world has been split into 5 different regions (NAmer=1 Europe=2 etc). There are ways to get around this though and can be read about at www.digital-digest.com (http://www.digital-digest.com) .

Yeah i know that much http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif but i have never heard of region 1 "enhanced" DVD's is it the same thing or is it a new layer of region encoding which to stop current patched players playing them.
this is what it says about normal region 1 dvds
"R1 - Will only play on North American Region 1 or multi-region DVD players."
Is the battle heating up??

it is amazing what happens when you read the full page isn't it! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
"Please Note: Regional Coding Enhancement (RCE) has recently been added by Warner and Columbia to certain Region 1 DVD’s. RCE will prevent the DVD from playing on some “Multi-Region” DVD players. If you are in any doubt that your player may not be able to play RCE DVD’s, we recommend that you do not order this title, as we are unable to accept returned RCE DVD’s"
if a;ll movies come out like this loks like i am going to have to wait till the next cracked bios patch comes out for my DVD drive!!

Great info, thanks. Looks like the movie industry could be getting their business practice lessons from Micro$oft...
