I need a DEAD Voodoo5: Let me explain.

I'm in college and broke--my V5 was a present. I accidently NUDGED it the other day and a capacitor broke off.

When I sent the card in for repair, I was informed that two additional capacitors were broken and a transistor as well. The guy working on it for me tried very hard to fix it--he even called 3Dfx and Nvidia trying to get the schematic to identify the part--but no luck. He didn't even charge me, and mailed the card back for free.

IF I can find a dead Voodoo5, he says there's a good chance he can repair the card by replacing the missing parts.

I CANNOT afford to replace this card. I'm absolutely broke, my parents are broke, I owe thousands of dollars to my college, and my loans just got shorted, so I have to borrow yet more.

Does anyone here have any idea where I could find a dead card to attempt this repair? I'm desperate here.

Do you have the capacitors that broke off? If so, you could probably take them to Radio Shack and see if they have them

The one capacitor I have has been soldered back on the board. The two missing capacitors (and transistor) are gone.

Get a new one from a local computer shop or whatever and take that to radio shack then return the new one.

Let me rephrase:

That's theft. Destruction of property. I'm not going to be unethical.

Maybe someone with a 5500 and a good digital
camera can send you some detailed pictures
of their card you might be able to read
the numbers.I know this is a long shot
but you might get lucky.Or if you can post a picture showing where the parts are missing
someone can look at theirs and give you the part numbers

Well, we've got the part #"s--but we need the Replacement transistor #'s off a card--I think it takes a magnifying glass. Still, I could post which parts are damaged.
