I want to make a web page that will have download links to my files. I currently run serv-u for ftp file serving. I use Front Page 2001 (xp). Personal web with a page listing the files and the ability to click to download. Follow me?
Sounds like your doing the same thing I did long ago.
You can make an index page that list all the files, and if you click one it prompts to d/l.

I need to know how to link the files on my hard drive to the page.

This kind of confusing. You want to have a web page that links to files that are located on your hard drive of your local machine? That doesn't seem to make much sense to me. The best would be to upload the files to the server that hosts your web site, or else if you are running a web server at home, simply place those files in your http directory and link to them.

2 gigs of files on my local machine. My isp only allows 5 mb (enough for the page and some more). If I made a hyperlink on the page to my IP address:port/directory/file would this work? I just want a way to access files remotely without using ftp software and/or running serv-u on my home machine.

Here is a file sharing web site with free downloadable software. You host the files and all registered users have access to them or you can start your own "hub".

Hot Rod thats not it either. For example you go to zdnet.com and to downloads and grab the file you want from the page which links to FTP. I want that capability to my files on this box

Set up a HTML page on a www, server and point them in the direction of the ftp site with a url using html like.
<a href="ftp://mdevan.dns2go.com/d:/whatever29/">Then put a name for the link here</a>
Since you are using FP it will do this code for you. I have not used FP in a few months so go to it's HELP and type "links" or "ftp" or "url" or something related to it until you find what you want.
