say around 10k without overclocking

I get low 9000 by overlcockign the GPu massively on a tbird 1.4 and PC133 RAM, so 10 k sounds about right

If you didn't purchase the soudn card yet, dont' get a live, it has trouble (lots), with EAX 2.0. Your gonna either have to spring for a newer Creative or go with a different brand. Phillips Accoustic Edge also has problems with EAX 2.0. I believe Turlte Beach finally released new drivers which rectified the EAX 2.0 problems their cards were having, I'm not sure there - but i haven't seen any complaints on any gaming sites in the past month or so about that card, so my best guess is they did upgrade the drivers (they did acknowledge beforehand that the card was capable, just they needed to get a driver out for it). If you already have the Live!, just drop sound acceleration to zero and it will run EAX 2.0 sounds fine.

itawolf - If I were you, I'd get a via kt333 or nvidia nforce 2 board. Ddr2100 is getting a little old. If you're getting a new system, you should get ddr2700 and one of the boards I mentioned. :D

DOES A SOUND CARD EFFECT CPU SPEED???

If anything CPU cycles effects performance more than sound card when it comes to audio. Take EAX in ut2k3 for example,if you got a slow CPU then fugeddabahdi. Software runs faster than EAX due to the extra strain EAX puts on cpu cycles. having said that a live and a fast CPU should enable you to use EAX etc fine and dandy :D

If you gotta have the latest toyt though id say Audigy 1's, Audigy 2 just seems to over priced for sound
