Midknyte 12-10-2002, 04:27 PM I prefer real nics to usb ethernet adapters. remember that usb is limited to 12mbps. For a tech, usb ethernet adapters are great since you don't have to open the case. I use a Linksys one at work. sm8000 12-10-2002, 04:35 PM Well, USB 1 has that limit anyways. I assume there'd be a USB 2 adapter available? Not that I'd make use of that speed anyways. It's just that here's what I foresee for my 3 PCI slots in the coming months (no AGP). 1) SCSI host adapter 2) Video Card 3) Sound Card (not necessarily in that order) I may get some of these for Christmas or my upcoming birthday. So I'm not spending money that could be invested in a new system. I will do that someday, just not yet. Anyways I figure if I do want to stay connected then this is how. I'm just wondering if these devices are reliable or problematic. Midknyte 12-10-2002, 04:41 PM yup. there are usb2 adapters. http://www.linksys.com/products/product.asp?grid=31&prid=497 usb has been kinda flaky for me, especially if there are lot of other usb devices on the system. only 3 pci? ****.
