What are the steps to reformatt a HD?

Can I take a HD,has current operating system and programs, and partition it into to equal sections(A-old section,B-new section)?Install a operating system onto drive B then uninstall the operating system on drive A.
The current OS is WIN Me and the new OS will be WIN 98 or WIN Me.

You will need two tools to do this, and Partition Magic from PowerQuest provides both in one package, because P.M. comes bundled with a product called Boot Magic. With P.M. you can move the partitions around as you described, and with Boot Magic you can set up a dual boot environment. You will need to boot from the "B" partiton in order to un-install the OS installed there, thus you will need a dual boot environment.

Can I then delete the operating system that is currently installed on drive "A" and then reformat drive "A".
I want to clean out the existing operating system and start clean with WIN 98 as I had before I installe WIN ME.
