After you have fdisked, leave your 98 boot disk in and restart.Follow the instructions to start with cdrom support and it will take you to the A prompt. At this point type in (exactly) format c: /s (notice the space between format and c:...and c: and /s).From there just follow the directions and have your Win 98 disc ready. I`ll check back if you have any questions. Gary

After you run fdisk, you type "format C:". After it formats, restart, and instill win98. (put the cd in, type "setup")

at the prompt, type "format C:" and then ENTER, of course leaving out the quotes, then follow the instructions. Once that is done. Make sure your win98 cd is in your cdrom, and then change to that directory by typing "d:" and hit ENTER, then type "setup" ,,voila,,,im assuming you already have a bootdisk in the floppy drive,

If your bios supports this (mine does, and is an Award). Go to Boot Sequence. And tell it to look at cd-rom drive. It will boot directly into the windows setup!

One question,, is that really starting from scratch? Is the boot record still there? I have always wiped mine if I really wanted to start squeakie clean. Or really mad. tee hee.

After formatting, I usually boot up with the boot disk and choose start computer from cd-rom. This way I don't have to change over to the cd-rom letter and type setup.
I also don't use the /s, if I use it Windows would tell me there is already an OS installed.
But, you can do it however you want to.
