I there,

I want to copy my games and I'm searching for the best program to do that. If I want to make copy it is because I want to play with the copy and keep the original in my safe. I've been stoled twice this year and I'm starting to be tired to get my games over and over. Can you help me?

Thanks

The law says he can make copies as long as he doesn't sell or give the copies away.

That's a great idea Decklord, Make a backup of your games for normal use and thieves to take.

Why don't you just leave the blank disk in the game jewel case so the thief just gets a blank disk... that would keep them from comming back.

But you also have a good idea and it is ok for you to make copies for your own use.

I have a question. Is Nero is working under Windows 98???

#1: I understand when people have ligitimate uses for making backups for themselves. I remember when you used to have to buy an extra floppy from the manufacturer if you wanted a backup/fix for a broken disk because of the copy protection. That was simply wrong. I myself back up my very favorite games (Need for Speed: High Stakes and Madden 99 come to mind).

#2: I've never had a problem with Nero 4 in Win98 with my Panasonic SCSI 4x8 burner. I've also used Nero in NT with no hiccups.

Many thanks to you guys. You know, I've lost about 30 games twice because I've been stoled so I'm a little bit tired of this (my wallet too). I will back them up now!!! If anybody want to tell me something usefull about making backup please tell me.

Some software companies tell you to make backups before you install there software.

You should, and are expected to make copies of floppies, etc. They only reason they don't tell you that about cd's is that they are pretty sturdy... There are computer stores and other sources that will do it for you.
If you give away, or sell copies The you have violated your software agreement. Make your copies, or put Laurence Welk in ther jewel cases..
PS.. Get some better friends..

Yes, I have a program that emmulates a CD-rom drive on my computer, it loads in autoexec.bat, and is more like a shortcut to a directory on the HD. I can even do autorun stuff through it though, only problem is you can only do one drive at a time. I am not using anything now, but before I got the 36x, my DVD just would not load some of my games fast enough.

What is the name of the CD emulating program and where can I get a copy of it?

One other thing, is there much of a difference in performance between a 2x speed DVD player and a 5x? How about the new 6x speed? I'd like to be able to play DVD movies on my computer, and was wondering if a 2x speed would be fast enough. I can get an OEM version of a Creative Labs DVD player for $50.00 new at a local computer store. Unfortuniately, it doen't come with the DVD player software. I am hoping I can download it from Creative's web site.

One other thing, can you play regular CD's on it and how fast would it be compared to a regular CD player?

Thanks.

right now, no difference in DVD playback, but generaly a faster DVD X, a faster CD X, I have a 2X, and I hate it, I only use it to play DVDs, or if I want to listen to a CD and play a game requirng a CD at the same time. The name of the program, if FAKECD.EXE you can get it from http://ftpsearch.lycos.com/cgi-bin/search?query=fakecd.exe&filetype=All+files&otype=Navigate&oquery=ftp.lipetsk.ru/pub/windows/winstuff /pub/Utilites/cdemul there is another program there, VIRTUAL CD, in the driectory, "REG" is how you can get the code to run it. Of course, you should register it legaly, as that would be against interantional copywrite laws, mister Admin. I am going to reboot, I will be back here in a few days, if anyone asks.

Is there anyway to copy a CD to your HD in order to get the max performance when playing a game. One game that I would love to copy onto my HD is Tomb Raider III, which when run it on my CD, is too slow for me.
