I have a file that I downloaded, it is the manual for a motherbrd I purchased. However when I unzip the file I only get blocks where the printing should be. I have used WinRar and WinZip to unzip it but with both programs I get these blocks. HELP!!!!! If anyone has the answer please let me know what I should do. Thanks - Needy

You might want to check, what type of format
is it ....check the last tree words if it doesn`t say nothing check the properties...

Thanks for your suggestions, but nothing has worked so far. Jerri
If you say use wordpad, notepad or quikview to look at a pdf (or sometimes even an exe file) it will sometimes have a few words but heaps of blocks, weird letters etc. Clear as mud? I know what I mean but you cant see my hands moving which would make it so much clearer.
Like Maldocom suggests could you give us the last few letters of the file that is zipped such as .txt,.doc,.pdf,.exe & so on. Someone will recognise it and be able to say what software should be trying to open up the file.
If it is a word document maybe its a newer version than the word you are currently using - just guessing.

It shows up as a Word .doc.

I brought it up in MS word first. There I only get blocks and a few words.

Two ideas...
1 - The file you downloaded is probably corrupted, especially if you used MS Word first and then had to save it in some format.
2 - As already stated, manuals usually use Adobe because of the illustrations.
I would try a new D/L to get a clean file, make a copy and try Adobe or what ever only on clean copies.
Also, the web site usually tells you the format the file is in.

I agree with eastst, files seems to be corrupt.

First let me say thanks for the help.
Second, That has happened in some web pages that I have looked at also, so it seems the problem is in my system. I must not have the font that is being used. I accessed a page on the gigabyte web site and got garbage. Does anyone know where I can get the font helvicta or something similar to that name, I may not be spelling it correctly.

I just took a look at the Gigabyte site, all the manuals are in PDF format. You'll need Adobe Acrobat Reader to open the file correctly, get it here: http://download.cnet.com/downloads/0-10068-100-2351460.html?tag=st.dl.10001-103-1.lst-7-1.2351460

Thanks Randy, but the manual I need is not for my mobo. It is for a mobo I got on Ebay. The buyer had the web site listed in his auction. That is why I need it. I don't have any idea what type of mobo it is. If I knew I would try to get from the mfg's site. He keeps telling me he'll fax it to me, but now he says he can't find it. Maybe someone out there can tell me how I possibly can look at the board and find out who the mfg. is. Thanks ladyJ
