My computer will, at random, reset itself. I can't quite figure this one out. It generally only happens when I have my DSL modem on and I am connected to my ISP. It is as if a phantom ghost swoops in an pushes my reset button. It is driving me nuts!!! Someone told me it was a faulty ground wire, but I can't be sure. Does this have anything to do with my NIC that is in use while I am connected to the net? I have had problems with my box reseting itself while I am NOT on the internet as well, but that seems to have gone away. Any suggestions? How would I fix a fualty ground? Is there a ground???
Thanks for the info!

If its an internal dsl modem, it may be making too much heat for your computer. I dont know just a guess. Might want to do a check for any trojans too.

Check out your NIC first. Also, check that all the wires coming out of the power supply are clean and uncut, and that thay are secure. Last, try replacing the AC cable going into your power supply.

What is the wattage on your power supply?
Maybe you need a more power.

My power supply is a 250 Watt ATX supply that came with the case from TigerDirect.Com....80 dollar case and it has been doing fine, up until now. I guess I will check my connections and wires, and I can ALWAYS replace that power cable cause I got a billion of em. I have an internal CD-R Drive...very old....and thats about it for extra periphs. Runnin Win98SE and I have scanned with the latest virus updates and everything. Guess I have to get under the hood now...
