Things weren't looking too good for Sharman networks. On Monday, Judge Steve Wilson had indicated that he may side with copyright holders.
"I find the argument about providing the service to so many California residents compelling..."
When these words made their way around the Internet, victory for copyright holders seemed all but certain. However, realizing the complexities of this issue, the Judge has informed both parties that he'll need more time on this issue.
The RIAA/MPAA were of course disappointed with the news. Copyright holders contend that Sharman's penetration into the American mainstream establishes enough contacts to make it eligible for the lawsuit.

In Pc world the compay KaZaA stated that even if they do close down the server, KaZaA doesn't need the server to operate.
So even if they shutdown there will still be the filesharing enabled between users. :)

sharing is fine when your on a Cable or DSL line but when your running a 56K and someone tries to D/L a 100MB File then this can be justified if the user cancells. i can download at max 7K sec but when someone is downloading from me at 2.2K sec.my connection then drops to about 3-4Ksec doubling download time.So i do share small files but anything 10MB+ i remove frfom the shared bit.
sorry if you disagree with what im doing but i have to cope somehow

It is very weird for me, I have DSL and I am sharing some files like 10 mb and more, but when someone starts to download from me it first starts at like 6 kb/s and then in a couple of seconds it drops to like 1-2 kb/s. Why does this happen. I think that it happens also when dsl and cable people download from me. I think it might be my connection but when I test my uploading from sites it says that it is 59 kb/s.
What could be stuffing it up?

i know about your connection speed sorry, post a thread and i bet the boffins here will be able to help.
regarding kazaa its splits the download up into sections if more than 1 person has the file, when i download say a 1 mb file i get
main user = 500k @3k sec
user2 = 65k @1K sec
user3 = 101K @ 1.1K sec
etc etc etc until the file has full completed
