Hi!

I am going to buy a new computer. It does include a GeForce 4 MX 420 with DDR memory. It's a special offer so I can't change any component (In fact I will replace the GF4 for a Radeon 8500)

The question is:

I haven't found information of the DDR version of the MX 420. I suspect it will have the same bandwidth as the SDR version (2.7 gb/s) due to the reduced memory interface (from 128 to 64 bit, just like the DDR version of the GeForce 2 MX). Can anybody confirm this information?

Thank you.

--overal the mx420 isnt bad for casual gaming and general usage - but for hardcore gamers its not great. A 128mb 8500 would be a good card for the money though

DDR will definitely be better than the SDRAMs models specially on a crappy MX model

i got the radeon 9000 pro for 150 EURO's which was a kik *** deal and it's wayyy better than what the GeForce 4 MX line of cards can offer when it comes to performace and picture quality, since non of the GF4MX line of 420/440/460 cards offer DirectX 8.1 shadder fx support....but the 9000 Radeon does and it's fast enugh that i think i should be the card for causal gaming on mid range computers.
