Well Plextor is Plextor. Everybody knows that TDK is "only" Sanyo, but I own one and I can highly recommand!

Just my 2 cents' worth (http://www.sysopt.com/forum/Forum10/HTML/001331.html) . BTW, this unit supports overburn and r/w text on audio...

I have the TDK VeloCD also. Super burner. I'm jealous of jak though, he has three of them.

also the best 16x10 cdrw i just looked on pricewatch and thir not that much more.
I'm still looking at the plextor though cause its got lifetime tech support. Tdk is close second with pacific digital behind that with its huge 8mb buffer. I NEED all of your opinions.

I have the Plextor 12x10x32 and would buy it again at twice the price. If you want to burn each time every time get the plextor. I have had a Ricoh and an Imation both made more coasters than copies. A large buffer is fine for the fastest computers doing nothing else but if you want to work and burn get a Plextor.

Deffinately the Plextor Plexwriter 16/10/40 - have had one for a couple of months now & not made any coasters. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif (Had a HP before & made enough coasters for my local pub!)
Whatever you get, try & make sure it has some kind of Burn Proof technology to prevent buffer underruns.

If you can verify that the TDK is in fact a Sanyo, it should be a good burner, as Sanyo developed and owns the "Burn Proof" technology.

Otherwise, I've never heard of a bad Plextor, and hope to own one someday!

The only think that can tip the scale between the plextor and tdk is the warranty. they are about the same price. Both have burn proof technology too. I know that plextor has 1 year and unlimited phone support but i dont know if the unlimmited is for life or the one year. I couldnt find any warranty info on the tdk.
