Why is it that drives like cdrw and such have memory on board? I know the purpose of this memory, but why not include a DIMM holder, just think, you could upgrade your cdrw drive from 2mb to 64mb or even 128mb for under $50!!! They would have to come with 8mb, but it would be dirt cheap for them. I would gladely have paid an extra $20 on my new 16x10x40 to have the ability to stick a left over 64mb stick in it, it would be virtualy imposible to get a burn error. And just think...you could have a 128mb read buffer on your hard disk, that could max out the channel for a second or two! The best part is that it would be cheap to do, no Rambus or RD Ram or anything special, PC100 would more than do it, even PC66 would do the job just fine! So with my rant done, why don't they put a slot on the thing!?!?!

I suspect it comes down to size and packaging. Open up your CDRW and try to decide where you would locate the socket and memory stick.
