Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : what's wrong with my TNT2 Ultra?
On ebay, I bought a used Diamond Viper V770( it's a TNT2 Ultra ). Tested the vid card in both of my computers, and I get the same result running TNT2 Ultra: On monitor I see "horizontal gray shaded bands", from top to bottom on monitor, especially at windows desktop.
The guy who sold me the vid card for $14 said it has been taken out of a Unix server. I suppose the TNT2 Ultra never got any rest, since servers run night and day. Could this be the cause of the vid card? I'm curious...does anybody know why?

Bad news: the card is probably dead.:(
Good news: You are only out $14.:)
I talked to the guy who sold me the vid card. He said I could return it back to him, but I would have to pay for the shipping and handling, which is 3 to 4 dollars.
Is it worth sending the vid card back to the seller?

Well if you would rather have a broken card that was 14 or no card and wait for a week or so for your 8 bucks back..those are your choices..i'd go with the 8 bucks:p
Sure, you'll get your $10 back :p

something is better than nothing:p
Well, I sent the toasted TNT2 Ultra back to the seller. He'll refund me the money through PayPal.
At Computrade, I just ordered a brandnew Creative Labs Blaster Riva TNT2 Ultra for about $33. And I hope I'll be happy with this new one I'm buying...

This is exactly what happened to my Viper v770 and happens to be the reason why I am poking around these forums now trying to learn more about recent video cards. My card was three years old and was running 24x7 for the last couple of years. It was a good card while it lasted.
