One thing that our shared Win 98SE PC in the family gets is too many favorites in the Internet Explorer column. If each of 5 has 15, then we have 75 favorites, which gets annoying. Of course, eliminating your own is not an option, and eliminating other family members' favorite sites leads to infighting which is bad.

Anyway, I finally happened on a feature in Linux that solves this problem and more. You create separate log ins, and your "own space" with respect to Internet usage. This is handy if you want a smaller list of more useful favorites (actually bookmarks in Linux, because Netscape is boss there). Or, if anyone needs 'private' space, that helps too.

The only problem is I only know how to create the user ID's during installation, not after the fact (but it should be possible).

Which flavor of linux are you using ?. In Mandrake you use the system control center (system config tool). In Redhat it's Linuxconf. It'll just prompt you to give the root password and away you go.

RedHat. I'll remember that if I ever need to add users.

Thanks.
