Like many others, I had a problem getting my ASUS CUSL2-C based system to shut down. I tried the Microsoft download, checked MSCONFIG, etc. I prefer to use no sounds on my system, but I have found that adding a (longer) shutdown sound solves the problem, at least this time.
For my own amusement, I chose Simon & Garfunkel's "Bookends Theme". This is approximately 30 seconds of quiet acoustic guitar. Somehow it "fits"; it is like playing a slow song to end your shift on the radio. It lets you down "easy". http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif
