I have a 52x cd-rom, 40x cd-rom, and 12xDVD-rom. I'm a little afraid of their temp! Whenever I open one of them I can feel some really hot air coming out. I usually leave their tray open so they can cool down. This is bad since their lenses can get dirty. Am I just being silly about their high temp. Or should I take one out, to give them some more room?

Incase you are wondering why I have 3 drives. My first drive broke (24x). So I orderd the 40x. It broke to. A friend gave me a new 52x (good friend http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif. Then for christmas I got the DVD drive. After that I fixed the 40x (it had a loose connector thingy-ma-bob). So now I have 3.

Thanks!

I've got one of those bay coolers right below my CDRW+DVD combo drive. It helps a LOT, especially when using the drive for long periods of time, like playing or ripping DVDs.

I don't even plug in the bay cooler. Turns out that the suction from the PSU fan is enough to pull cool air into the computer and cool off the drive.

Hey thanks for the comments! The bay cooler gives me an idea! My case has 4 5.25" bays up front! What I'll do is sepperate my to faster drives (52x, and DVD), and take out the plastic covering for the 4th drive opening! It should let allot of the heat dissipate!
