I installed a 30.7G Hdd (IBM, 2Mg Buff, 7200 RPM), and it works fine.
I have a Tyan Trinity s-371 MB.
It is calling it a LBA Mode 4 - Is that the some as DMA 66?

Or- how do I determine if it is performing as a '66...?

(All hook-ups are correct, including the 80 wire cable..

Thanks in advance...

"LBA Mode 4" is two things, not one.

LBA = Logical Block Addressing. It's a method of addressing the data on a hard drive. LBA was introduced several years ago as a way to get beyond the 504MB barrier. Needless to say, every modern hard drive uses LBA.

"Mode 4" probably refers to Programmed I/O (PIO) Mode 4. This is a method of transferring data from the hard drive to memory. PIO Modes need the CPU to do the data transfers. DMA modes do not, so the CPU is free to do something else.

Try checking in your BIOS to make sure that UDMA is enabled. Also check the "DMA" option in your control panel.
