IE5: Tools/Internet Options/Connections/Settings/Advanced. Try setting for 5 secs. Check these: DialUp Networking/General/Configure/Connection. Check box - Wait for dial tone b/4 dialing; Check box - Cancel call if not connected.... Hit OK, back out to the Server Types and make sure Log onto Network is not checked. Check your modem configuration, and that call waiting is disabled in Dialing Properties. Check your Com port speed, turn it down a notch if you have it up to 11520. If those settings are correct, the only thing I can think of is you may need to rebuild the TCP/IP. Call your ISP for that info if you don't have it. And you could ask your ISP for a different setting string to improve connectivity. Suggestion: Get 2 or 3 different access numbers, or a different ISP if you keep getting busy signals. I hope this helps somewhat. And it's very possible I have missed something. You seem to have thought of about everything... Sorry I couldn't help, but I'll keep looking and post if I find something. The only other things I can think of is a bad ISP, or maybe a bad registry entry? Have you made any other system (cmos/bios) changes or installed new hardware/software? I don't know. It may be right under my nose but I can't see it. Maybe someone else has a fresh approach to this? I would like to know what causing it too. Let us know if you find a fix. DUH. What kind of modem are you using? I've been @$$uming a 56k v.90 hard internal fax/modem. Double-DUH. [This message has been edited by socalgal (edited 08-07-99).] SysOpt.com
