yep, that's right http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
It's called Direct Connect and works on a similar principle as Naspter.... peer-to-peer file sharing, i.e., without main storage server. It's fast (i have kit upto 186KiloBYTES/sec) and u can share what ever u want, (anything and everything.
It's not a crappy network and the previously amature-level-client has been replaced by a better and more stable client.
It's all at http://www.neo-modus.com/
I love it and am sure you will too

DC is a pretty cool program. I like it. As always be sure to scan everything you get from there.

Didn't Napster have an intermediary server? I thought that is why they could be shut down. It does not seem to me a true peer to peer system could ever be litigated, they would have to sue each person individually...

I am interested to know whether DC gives the user the following info:
Bitrate (This would be the most important to me).
Ping Rate.
Type of connection.
Frequency.
Has anyone tried it ?, what do you think of it ?.
Thanks,
cm.

yeah.... it does show the connection type, ping time and open slots.... and allows queuing for automatic downloads. It also supports unattended , automatic resumes. Seems like u guys didn't get the whole picture http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif , It's not just for mp3, it's for EVERYTHING, and i mean it http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif (movies, appz and everything)
Well, recently I haven't had a problem with Napster. So I shall continue using it. I have over 100 songs on CD b/c of it. And all with a 56k modem and a crappy ISP too.

DC may be having problems again. There are tons of movies and MP3's available if you look through the hubs.

Hi,
I have not yet tried DC yet, But you guys should check out this program called KaZaA ( www.kazaa.com (http://www.kazaa.com) )
Since peer 2 peer can be slow and alot of downloads don't go through sometimes, KaZza find every file by that name your downloading and downloads the file like off 5 poeple at once or how many have it. It's so nice any file I click to download I get it. But I will check DC out. By the way this webpage is sooo nice! I just found it today I'm supprised I haven't found it before!
