I had a Geforce2 Mx200 32ram and the game Rocked!! and now i install a Prophet Radeon 8500LE and in this game now it lucks up n i need to turn the PC off? i have all new drives n all and nothing what the hell? GTA3 runs.

I have Windows XP

Mobo? If GTA3 runs its not overheating, its not the psu, not mem. Its gotta be either your d3d settings for the card or the drivers, and have you checked for a game patch yet?:)

P.S. and if its either a via or sis chipset mobo try updating those too.

I wanted to know if it was a VIA SIS or Intel chipset.

If its a Via chipset download the latest 4in1 drivers.

well my boy burned his new amd system so i taken his Prophet Radeon 8500LE to use till he get's a new mobo, i think with my Abit BH6 P3 450 @ 558mhz with 620ram and a 230 PSU it isn't pulling? but why the GTA3 work.

thats hard to tell. But 230watt is mighty low for a power greedy vid card. Your 3.3v rail is maxed I bet and when the gpu pulls lotsa juice (heavy action etc. in game) it hangs cause your ram cpu and etc. are run off the same 3.3v rail. Thus underpowering the mem and cpu, hanging system hard!:t

Yea thats what i was thinking :(, ohh well was a good try, back to my Geforce2 200mx

this game locked up for my 8500 until i lowered the detail settings by one notch. this was acknowledged by NFS and posted in their forums as a fix.
