My sister and I are trying to run a network. It will be a few months before my dad gets the CAT5 wired, so i was thinking. Temporaily, would it be possible to take a 25 foot CAT5 and connect it directly to my sister's and my computers? No hub router or anything esle, just a direct connect. All we really want to do is play games together, but sharing the internet would be nice too. So, my question: Would it be possible?
Thanks,
Dr. Death

you will need a crossover cable to do it. you will be better off buying a cheap hub and using conventional wired patch cords. when you get the high speed hooked up you will be all set. You will have 2 nics in one pc and one in the other. I use the cheap $ 6.00 nics they are the same as road runner uses I have 6 of them I have been using for a year and a half with no problems.

if you want to share broadband, you should get a router. ICS is ok, but you gotta have the host system on everytime you want the second computer to have internet access. PITA.
